Project Managers
The leadership required of Project Managers is one of the most complex in business; they are managing and leading teams of diverse members, often with no ‘line management’ authority in place. Their ability to lead this team through the project processes to deliver to the agreed specification and on time is often crucial to the success of the business.
Standard project management training gives managers the basic organisational skills; the Pharos Leadership programme builds on this with work-based coaching, adding practical leadership skills and strategies to deal with the challenges, obstacles and problems as they occur in the real world.
Over the past ten years, Pharos Leadership Development Programmes have proven successful in hundreds of cases, producing measurable and sustainable improvements in both individual and organisational performance.
Corporate benefits of Leadership Development for Project Managers:
- Reduced delays
- Improved quality
- Increased innovation

- Increased customer confidence
- Reduced senior team intervention
- Reduced staff problems with stress and burnout
- Enhanced reputation
Programme Outline
The programme uses established diagnostic models, tailored to the needs of the individual. It is a personal one-to-one development programme of ten sessions over a six-month period. The programme is delivered at the client’s work place and is totally confidential, allowing frank and uninhibited discussion of personal, work and business issues to take place. Some of the core components are:
- Understanding and setting the desired business outcomes: measurable objectives agreed by their line manager.
- Mapping the individual’s core values and behaviours; these are constantly revisited, reinforced and developed throughout the programme.
- Formal analysis of the individual’s mind filters: providing a better understanding of their personal and business thinking styles and developing those in accordance with their role.
- Single/Double learning loop: shows how the individual’s driving values affect conceptual and operating strategies, then analyses outcomes to improve performance through their better use.
- Success and set-back analysis: reinforcing the process of learning from experience and development of new behaviours.
- Leadership mapping: included self and 360˚ analysis to identify key leadership strengths and weaknesses and development areas to fulfil their role.
- Personal and team organisation: improved understanding of how not to waste time and techniques for evaluating and prioritising tasks effectively.
